The Guilford Gazette: A Learning Experience DVD/VIDEO 27 min.
Working with Guilford School in Vermont, Community Works recently completed this video which describes, through a series of poignant interviews, how this seven year old community newspaper has affected the lives of the adolescent students and faculty advisors who work to create it as well as the lives of the townspeople who look forward to reading each issue.
Students describe in their own words what they learn from the process of creating a newspaper. The town elders movingly describe how it feels to be included in the life of the town through student visits, interviews, and requests for their stories.
The video makes a powerful case for the academic and social benefits of service learning experiences.
